The form evolved out of the self-imposed dogma of creating minimal wastage in the cutting process. It is laser-cut from a piece of steel plate, which is subsequently bent into shape and subjected to industrial polishing or powder coating. The shape of the metal cut-out for two book supports corresponds with that of two elongated, interwoven spirals. As a result, minimal waste metal is created in the laser cutting process.
